About Us
Our History
Pwani Research Centre (PRC) was established to address critical public health challenges through high-quality research, clinical trials, and community-based interventions. Since its inception, PRC has focused on advancing research in HIV, sexually transmitted infections, vaccines, and other priority diseases affecting communities in coastal Kenya and the wider region.
Over the years, PRC has grown into a respected research institution with strong local and international partnerships. Through sustained community engagement, robust clinical and laboratory systems, and adherence to global research standards, PRC has contributed to scientific evidence that informs prevention strategies, improves treatment outcomes, and strengthens health systems. Today, PRC operates as a key research hub supporting clinical trials, cohort studies, implementation science, and capacity building.
