Community

Strengthening community engagement to support ethical,
 people-centred research.

The Community Department at Pwani Research Centre (PRC) plays a vital role in building trust, fostering collaboration, and ensuring meaningful participation in all research activities. Our team leads community recruitment and retention efforts, ensuring that study participants are well-informed, supported, and engaged throughout the research process.

We work closely with community members, local leaders, facility staff, and other key stakeholders to promote awareness, address concerns, and strengthen the relationship between research and the community it serves. Through ongoing dialogue, outreach activities, and feedback mechanisms, the department helps ensure that PRC’s research remains people-centred, ethical, and responsive to community needs.

Community aims to increase clinical research and trial investments on the continent by drawing together local and sector partners to collectively develop clinical trial capacity and sustainably bring more trials to Africa.
